Top 10 Jobs With Most Shortage of Workers

Last Updated: June 8th, 2022

For those who are in search of a new job, or are looking for a new career path, why not look in to those fields where the jobs are easy to come by, and the talent is hard to fill? Although many people are without work, and can’t find jobs in most industries, there are a number of industries in which jobs are easy to come by, yet people do not have the experience to fill the job.

So, if you do have experience in the fields, or are considering getting educated in a certain field of work, these are the top 10 jobs with the most shortage of workers to consider looking in to, if you do not want to run in to a shortage of jobs some time down the road.

10. Nurses

There is never a time when you will hear there are too many nurses working in the US. In fact, nursing is one of the biggest fields in the country, there are many nurses employed, yet many of them are overworked. IF you are interested in a new job, that offers competitive pay, with flexibility (in terms of where you can live and work), then the nursing field is one to look in to.

9. Drivers

Working as a truck driver, delivery driver, or driver in any other field of work, is also something employers always need. Due to the fact that deliveries never cease, companies always need merchandise delivered, and customers are always placing orders (in various fields), working as a driver is a career you can grow in, earn well in, and one where there are always jobs available to the public.

8. Engineers

Yes, it is competitive, and yes, you will be required to have an extensive degree of knowledge, experience, and education. But, work in the field of engineering is a field in which there are always open jobs to the public as well. For those who have a degree, working in any field of engineering is a great way to make a living, and a career where you are never going to have to worry about job security either.

7. Teachers

May be due to lower pay and long hours, but working as a teacher is one career in which there is always a need as well. It is also a great job for those who love to help, individuals who want freedom (in terms of where they can live), and a great career option for those who never want to have to worry about finding a job, anywhere in the US.

6. IT Staff

Work in the IT field, is never at a shortage either; the main reason is that there aren’t enough people who are skilled in this field. So, for those who are in search of a new field of work, IT is a great field to go in to, if you enjoy computers, configuration, and resolving solutions with different networks, for big companies.

5. Sales

Working as a sales representative is another career in which there are never shortages for work. Just look at how many retail stores are out there, and how many people are needed to run these stores. The simple fact that hundreds of workers are required to run, the millions of retail chains around the US, make it a career in which there will always be job openings, and new openings to look in to, for those who are searching for a new job.

4. Laborers

If you work as a laborer, or if you are searching for a new job, this is another field to look in to. Whether it is working out in the fields, working indoors doing work in IT, or working at another skilled trade, there is always a need for individuals who are willing to work. Laborers work extensive hours, and although pay is reasonable, the work is hard. If you are willing to do it, and can do it well, you can earn well in this field, and will always find an open job in it.

3. Restaurant/Hotel staff

Bartenders, waiters and waitresses, managers, and the list goes on. Due to the high turnover, the long hours, and the fact that not everyone is a generous tipper, this is a career in which you will always find work as well. Obviously, the higher up the chain, the more experience is required, but you can work your way up, and it is a career that individuals who are in the field of work, truly love to do.

2. Accounting

Especially if you are considering a higher up gig, or working with a big company, CPAs are hard to come by today. Many people turned towards the business field, in lieu of working as an accountant. With this said, companies are always hiring people to work in the department within their organization. Whether it is as a bookkeeper, working doing the paperwork, or simply working on crunching the numbers, there is always a need for accountants. It is a great field of work to consider if you like job security, and job availability on a regular basis.

1. Skilled Workers

Mechanics, farm hands, tech teams, and similar careers, are ones in which you will always find work to be available in. Due to the fact that the work is hard, and the hours are long, and the fact that you do have to undergo continual education, many people do shy away from these fields of work. Plus, there are so many companies that need these skilled workers, and new businesses continually opening in need of skilled workers, that there is never a shortage of work available for the individuals who do have the education, and for those who do have the training and experience in the field of work.

Sure, if you want to work in a specific niche industry and don’t have experience or education, it is hard to find a job. But, if you want security, availability, and always to find work in the field, these are career paths to consider following.
