The Best Seat Cushions for Truck Drivers

Last Updated: February 7th, 2023

As a truck driver, you’re on your rear for long periods of time. A great seat cushion can save you from having back issues like sciatica or other health issues related to prolonged sitting, such as varicose veins, muscle degeneration and heart disease.

Add to that, truckers experience constant vibrations from driving a truck, may be lifting heavy boxes, loading or unloading goods or eating poorly, which could exacerbate back or health issues associated to sitting.

Because of the susceptibility of truckers getting back issues, we’re reviewing the best seat cushions that could help alleviate some health problems.

Not only is this seat cusion economical, but it works really well. You can place this seat cushion in your cab on the seat, sit on it, and feel an immediate change. It uses Grade A memory foam which has been designed to reduce the pressure on the coccyx and lower back. It can be used over and over again and won’t lose its shape. The curved design improves circulation to the legs, which can often be a problem for anyone who sits for long periods of time, especially truck drivers.

This seat cushion was designed to alleviate pressure on the tailbone while encouraging proper spinal positioning. This helps to prevent back pain. The unique shape also helps to distribute body weight evenly and support posture. Other benefits of this cushion are that it can be machine washed and comes with a full, lifetime guarantee.

Airhawk Truck Driver Seat Cushion ($$)

Roho Airhawk seat cushion for truck driversThis cushion was developed for people who drive large machinery for a living, such as a trucker – allows drivers to sit for long periods of time without having pain, numbness in the legs, or feeling tired.

The interconnected air cells it’s made of allow air to move from one chamber to another which allows body weight to distribute evenly. It also promotes blood flow. It’s a good choice for those people who are on the road for hours at a time or who drive for a living.

This cushion was built to last and Airhawk has had their technology used for years in the medical industry. They designed cushions for patients who are confined to a wheelchair or bed for long periods of time. They use this same technology for their seat cushions.

For truck drivers or anyone who drives for a living, this may be the perfect cushion. The cells are able to absorb the many vibrations that come with driving on the road. Because of the air cells, the cushion won’t harden like some foam seats can. The cover is easily removable for machine washing.

Warranty: 2 years

I’m a long-haul truck driver, and I really needed a cushion like this. Bought the upgraded version of the everlasting comfort cushion. I liked the design and how it makes sitting for longer periods of time much more comfortable. The memory foam is a truly an awesome thing. Thanks!

I drive rigid trucks 3500 kms a week and have been trying different cushions for years inc air hawk & gelco ultra both of which cost between 100 & 200 dollars. I have had nothing but discomfort from both including hip & upper leg pain. The gelco is the worst. After 2 weeks the bones in my backside were bruised. Would love to know if there’s anything on the market that actually works.

I drive OTR semi and need a cushion that will help relieve pain from lower back. I have lower back problems and im in pain ALL the time while driving. Will any of these help?? I saw that air one, but not sure if its a good one or not. Not sure if filling and deflating the air helps, or is just a pain. Im pretty picky when it comes to comfort. I slip seat in my semi, so i need something easy to use.

I know it’s hard to get out of the truck but working in some exercise through out the week with daily stretching will help. Or maybe look into another carrier. I’m having some minor back issues from truck driving, which I went back to school to head for the medical field..

While I’m not one of you major road warriors, I am looking for a truck seat wedge type cushion. Great info here and I’m glad to find you all. Was at that Back Store and their option is an expensive version that puts my knees against the steering column. It is a comfortable cushion, but I can’t drive like that. Between your information and the other online options available, I’m convinced I can find what I need for a fraction of the cost.

I have an Uncle who drives a semi truck, and he always complains about his back and leg pain. I just assumed that he had bad posture, but I didn’t know that the constant sitting could actually cut off the circulation to his legs. I thought I’d do some research for him, and I will definitely share this with him and tell him to buy a new cushion!

My dad drives a truck for a living and he is always claiming that his back is aching. However, that is mostly due to the fact that he is sitting down a lot of the time unless he is working on some of the truck’s equipment. I am sure that he would really benefit from having one of these special cushions, especially the Roho Airhawk one because I think that it would be perfect for him.

I can imagine that driving on the road all day would make you specific about the your seat. I like the Cushina Memory Foam Seat Cushion best! It’s an improvement from the regular seat, but it doesn’t break my bank to buy it. I’m going to take a deeper look into it!

THANK YOU. I’ve been looking at seats for long-term sitting, and haven’t been able to find anyone who discusses the different options in-depth. My lower back takes a real hammering if I’m sitting in my truck for longer than 4 hours, so a seat like these would be great. The removability of the Airhawk sounds perfect. I’ll look into it some more. Thanks again!
